The marginal tax rate on high income earners is more than just the Federal rate in most states. The highest income earners already pay a wildly dispoportionate share of taxes. This is not a tax cut, it is restoring the rates to the level where they were before the tax increase.
At some point, you raise the marginal rate to a level which will drive some of our most productive people out of the country. Remember Great Britain’s Brain Drain of the 1950s and 1960s?
Think about cutting government spending. Now that is a novel idea, and don’t exclude the ‘defense’ budget. We shouldn’t be raising taxes on anyone. We need capital formation to create jobs and taking anyone’s money and funneling it into the black hole of government revenue/spending won’t help any of us in the long run.
